Seeking a Photography Partner

I’m looking for a Chicago-based photographer to help shape the visual storytelling of This Is a Teacher during its pilot phase. The photographs will center teachers in their school environments through portraits, classroom details, artifacts, and other images that offer a glimpse into their practice. Students will not be photographed.

This opportunity may be a good fit for a photography student or early-career photographer interested in portrait, documentary, or editorial photography and looking to build their portfolio. Photography sessions are tentatively planned for August through October 2026 and will take place at participating teachers’ schools throughout Chicago.

Because this project is currently a self-funded labor of love, I’m not able to offer a photography fee during the pilot. I will reimburse transportation expenses for school visits, and the photographer will receive credit wherever their work appears and be able to use the photographs in their portfolio. If the project grows and receives funding, photographer compensation will be built into the budget for future rounds.
